Michalakis Sarris

Independent Non-Executive Director

Appointed as Non-Executive Director of AstroBank Public Company Limited in September 2021. Mr. Michalakis Sarris is a graduate in Economics from the London School of Economics, UK, and has a doctorate from Wayne State University, USA. During the years 1972 to 2004, he worked for a number of institutions, like the Bank of Cyprus, the Central Bank of Cyprus and the World Bank. In September 2005, he was appointed Minister of Finance serving until March 2008. From January to August 2012, he was Chairman of the Board of Directors of Marfin Popular Bank, and in March 2013 became Minister of Finance again for a brief period to negotiate Cyprus’ adjustment programme. Since then, he has been lecturing and consulting.
