Mrs. Μaria Venizelou has joined the Bank as senior legal advisor and was promoted to the position of Head of Legal Services in December 2019. As from January 2021 she has also been assigned the post of Head of Corporate Governance of the Bank and Secretary of the Board of Directors. Mrs. Venizelou commenced her career as a practicing lawyer for five years at the Law Office of L. Papaphilippou & Co handling corporate clients’ cases in the field of company law, contract, insurance and trademarks as well as litigation in civil and criminal cases. She later moved to Universal Bank where she worked as internal legal advisor for a period of seven years. As from 2008 she has worked as a Senior Legal Advisor at AstroBank ( at that time Piraeus Bank ( Cyprus ) Ltd ) until 2019 when she was promoted to the position of Head of the Legal Services. She is a member of the Legal Committee of the Association of Cyprus Commercial Banks. She has a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) Degree from the University of Sheffield in Great Britain and a Master of Laws (LL.M) from Warwick University in International Economic Law. She has also attained a Licence to practice the legal profession (Cyprus Bar) from the Supreme Court of Cyprus.
