Honorary Fellow for 2021
Dr Shadi A. Karam, the Chairman of AstroBank’s Board of Directors, has received a distinction of the Cyprus Institute of Marketing (CIM), and has been selected as an Honorary Fellow.
Following his studies at the American University of Beirut as well as Columbia University and Harvard University in the US, Dr Karam has followed a successful professional career spanning over 40 years, holding leading positions in the real estate, hotels, industry and banking sectors.
This award highlights his contribution as Chairman of AstroBank’s Board, to further strengthening the Bank and his commitment to reinforcing the Cyprus economy, attracting foreign investments and setting it on a path of sustainable growth. This distinction is in fact very important for the AstroBank family, as ever since CIM’s Honorary Fellows institution was established, it has been awarding the Honorary Fellow title to distinguished professionals and prominent personalities who throughout their career, but also their broader role in society, have contributed substantively to the country’s economic progress.
Moreover, the recognition of Dr Shadi A. Karam’s multifaceted role highlights the need for closer relations between senior executives of Cypriot businesses and foreign corporate and institutional organisations. By holding the position of Vice Chairman of the International Chamber of Commerce in Lebanon, but also a series of other distinctions in other countries, Dr Karam constantly endeavours to promote Cyprus and its banking sector into a leading destination for investments and as a platform for businesses in the region and beyond.
