AstroBank leads the way in parental benefits
Recognising the importance of quality time that parents must have with their children during the first stages of their lives, AstroBank has become the first bank in Cyprus, to extend the duration of maternity and paternity leave from the birth of the first child, as part of internal policy included in the collective agreement with ETYK.
In a modern, demanding era, and with respect towards the individual, the family, the mother, the father, and the child, the Bank offers its personnel an extension of maternity leave to six months irrespective of the order of birth of the child and paternity leave to three weeks.
The benefit is over and above the annual holidays mandated by law and during their absence, employees continue to receive full remuneration.
The head of Human Resources Tonia Hadjicosti stated: “Support from the employer through the extension of quality time the parents would have during the first stages of their child’s life, without any effect on their income no less, bolsters motherhood and fatherhood immensely. I should also note that before and after the birth of their child, parents are offered free consultation from our expert associates. Included in these services is participation in childbirth and childcare seminars.”
AstroBank also provides its staff and families with special programmes aimed at developing their skills and promoting wellbeing and mental health.
Among them, seminars on mindfulness that improve health by affecting positive changes in behaviour and the outlook on life. Appreciating the importance of wellbeing and how much it helps in personal and professional development; the Bank will soon be implementing new programmes focusing on this aspect.
