Financial aid of €100,000 and food collection
AstroBank has donated €100,000 to support the tragedy-struck people of neighbouring Lebanon and especially those affected by the deadly explosion at the Beirut port on 4 August, 2020.
Deeply shocked by the dramatic images and numbers of the dead, injured and homeless left behind by the tragedy, the members of AstroBank’s Board of Directors immediately proceeded with a targeted financial aid, within the framework of the Bank’s Corporate Social Responsibility strategy. In addition, responding to the plea of the Commissioner of Volunteerism of Cyprus, AstroBank’s staff actively participates in all efforts for food collection at all branches.
In his statements, the Managing Director and Chairman of the Executive Committee of AstroBank, Constantinos Loizides, underlined the Bank’s readiness to help the neighbouring country in any way possible. “We stand in solidarity with the long-afflicted and once again suffering people of Lebanon and join forces with all organisations that are contributing to the effort to tackle and mitigate the devastating effects of the catastrophe that has struck Beirut,” he said.
