OUR ENVIRONMENT

At AstroBank we recognise climate change as one of the most prominent issues of our time. Consequently, our environmental goal for the coming years is to monitor our performance and minimise our carbon footprint by setting specific targets, raising awareness within our stakeholder groups, and creating and developing projects to protect the environment and improve the use of natural resources.

Greenhouse Gas Emissions

Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions significantly contribute to climate change. At AstroBank, we are committed to measuring the greenhouse gas emissions from our operations and implementing an action plan for their reduction.

We Care: Family and Work Life Reconciliation Programs

Through the ‘We Care’ initiative, we support the well-being of our employees and their families, through a series of actions that support a better work-life balance.  

  • Employee Assistance Program – Hellas EAP which provides counselling to employees for personal and work-related challenges. The following complimentary services are offered to employees and family members:

24/7 Support line (with unlimited use)
Talks: The program includes online seminars, podcasts and flyers around the subjects of work-life balance and improving mental health and wellbeing

  • Six months maternity leave and three weeks paternity leave, fully paid
  • Flexible, first-day-at-school working hours for parents with children at pre-school, 1st and 2nd grade of elementary school

Our vision is to work responsibly as an active member of society. We want to reciprocate the trust placed in us by society, by taking part in collective actions that aim to create a better tomorrow. Our mission is focused on being a driving force for prosperity, by adding value to the lives of our employees, customers, partners, shareholders, the economy, society and fellow human beings.

We are investing in Corporate Social Responsibility, while always keeping our plans and initiatives up to date with the needs of society. Today, Corporate Social Responsibility, is an integral part of our overall strategy. Our plan:

For a society of solidarity

We actively support Europa Donna Cyprus, as a strategic partner. We are co-organizing the Pink Silhouettes Walk, an initiative that aims to raise public awareness on matters related to Breast Cancer and empower women to fight this disease. In this era of social and financial challenges, we remain dedicated to addressing people's needs by consistently sponsoring and volunteering with various non-governmental organizations, such as:

Education and empowering the new generation

Our goal is to support the new generation, the future of this country, by providing scholarships to honors students from Cypriot schools and universities.

Culture

We believe that access to culture is a fundamental right for every citizen. Therefore, we support various cultural events in collaboration with municipalities and other non-profit organizations.

Volunteering

As an organisation, we actively promote volunteerism as an integral part of our culture. Every year, more and more employees are participating in our Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives, dedicating their time, knowledge, creativity and effort to create a positive outcome for society.

  • As part of its long-standing collaboration with the Blood Bank of the Ministry of Health our employees participate in voluntary blood donation drives that are held in locations all over Cyprus
  • Our volunteers participate in organized beach-cleaning events, where the plastic materials collected are upcycled
  • We wear jeans on Rare Diseases Day, supporting the “Jeans for Genes” awareness campaign

RESPONSIBLE SERVICES

Responsible Product Development

At AstroBank, we have developed a policy for the approval of new products and services. We also follow a standardised procedure that includes steps for the design, approval, development and placement of new products and services in the market.

Responsible Advertising

A Marketing and Promotional Activities procedure ensures fair advertising, and protection of the consumers’ interests. A Procedure on Social Media and Alternative Advertising Channels Management, for the management of material, posts and messages published, has also been developed.

 

Corporate Sustainability Reports

At AstroBank, we are committed in operating in an economically, socially and environmentally sustainable manner, prioritizing the interests of our stakeholders.

The principle of transparency regarding our actions in the fields of economy, society and the environment is highlighted through our Corporate Sustainability Reports.

The Reports are prepared in reference to the Global Reporting Initiative Standards (GRI Standards) and aim at presenting the strategy, activities, practices and results that the Bank has achieved during the reference year.
